Press Release: INA calls PPS decision “a travesty of justice.”

Published: 26 June, 2007

New York, NY.  Irish Northern Aid’s National President, Paul Doris, has denounced the decision by the Public Prosecution Service not to press any charges against RUC officers over collusion allegations, including that of the murder of human rights lawyer, Pat Finucane, uncovered by Metropolitan Police Commisoner, John Stevens.

“Mr Stevens sent 20 files documenting collusion between British security forces, unionist paramilitaries and their political masters in the British Government.  From day one, the British have tried to manacle the Stevens inquiry and its findings, and now they are engaged in a travesty of justice and a cover up of the most heinious proprotions.

“The families of those murdered as a result of collusion deserve closure.  They are entitled to know the truth and extent of the co-operation between the British army, police and unionist death squads in the killings of its own citizens.  Those found guilty need to be brought to justice.

Irish Northern Aid fully supports the Finucane family, and all the relatives of those murdered by collusion, in their quest for justice.  We will continue to press this issue until the truth about Britain’s dirty war in Ireland is revealed.” Ends
